Science v Religion

Science vs Religion, a long raging war, which only gets worse by the minute. In this day and age, at least 6 billion people on the planet support the idea of there being a higher power than ourselves, meaning that the other 1.8 billion people on the planet don’t believe in a higher being than ourselves, instead they believe in the highly logical work of science, they believe that we came into existence because the theological route that the universe took was one with us existing in it, this being the case they could have possibly been infinite amount of possibilities, and over 99% of those outcomes would not have us even existing, they believe that a string of events happened ultimately leading up to the creation of the human race. Though people who are religious believe in the fact that our higher being (in this case God) intended on someone who will be able to look after the universe, therefore creating, what we call “Man” of course at the moment we have hardly even scraped the first cells of the surface of the ever expanding universe, but don’t forget we still have at least another 1 billion years in our small corner of the universe before it gets engulfed by our good friend, the sun.

It is hard to compare the two and you can also build two very strong cases to back up both theories.

The first point that one must make is what the side believes in, I made my first point above about how these two sides view the creation of the universe and how our species came into existence, Science — a string of events leading up the big bang, and Religion — God bringing us into existence to take care of the universe.

Science is based on the knowledge that is gained form different experimental methods, firstly they come up with a theory and then they come up with experiments to try and prove whether that is right or wrong, and religion is based on a story that is told with a book that has supposedly been around for over four thousand years old, though another way to look at this is by distinguishing science as studies of the Natural world though Religion of the natural and supernatural world, like God and miracles (they are not part of our natural order or anything that can happen on the surface of Earth.)

The term “science” was only introduced in the 19th century, before that it was called “Natural Philosophy” which makes sense as Science these days is looked on as another “Big” Religion so to speak. The idea behind science is to try come up with theories using logic and reasoning, an example of this would be “The Big Bang”. A theory that was first thought of by, Belgian priest, of all people, Georges Lemaître, the theory was that the universe began from only 1 extremely dense “primordial fireball” . There have been many observations that the human race has noticed during the course of history, though the main one, that could support the idea of this astronomical theory, being that our universe is ever expanding which shows us that at some point in history there must have been a point where there was only one small dot in a vast open space which would contain the essence of and entire universe. This observation is very valid and very logical. Though on the other side of the coin, Religion is based on supernatural events, such as God creating the Earth, Jesus feeding the Five thousand, and calming of the storms, Moses retrieving two stone tablets from the heavens, having the ten commandments then going on to make 1,200 paged library of books crammed into one. I myself have a couple of points to make about this. The first, being all of this, what religious people believe I, this is all based upon a singular book that was written by someone who has never even proven to have existed, the next being, if this was all to be real, at what point has all of this stopped, as soon as Christ died? Why?
